Dear reverend Guru!

I’ve read your 5thcounter-argument on Dr. Ven. Thich Nhat Tu’s argument.

It is clear that Ven. Thich Nhat Tu is inconsistent in his opinion: In the past, he said Buddhist bhikkh us “borrowed” mantras from the heresies (specifically from Brahmanism) as “a means” to save and protect sentient beings. Now he says mantras are a means for “right mindfulness” training.

Perhaps Ven. Thich Nhat Tu has yet absorbed the real meaning of “Right mindfulness” in Buddhism, thus fail to understand that of Eightfold Paths, either (?) Then is the fact that he has been applauding and calling on the support for “Original/Early Buddhism” movement which is said to be founded on the Eightfold Paths just a brag thing?

Is this an indication that Ven. Thichs Nhat Tu has broken the precept of “lying” (Wrong words) unintentionally; or he intends to do it for some reasons?

Dear Guru!

Today witnesses the emergence of so many “braggers” in Buddhism who are spreading wrong views which drag the sentient beings into the samsara. This reminds me of a story in “Luận ngữ tân thư” (based on The Analects of Confucius) by Pham Luu Vutitled “Preventing the Fool to be a Teacher”

“The story goes that Confucius has a student named Mŭ(Mỗ, 姆)who comes from Ténggúo(Nước Đằng,國). This man is of medium or even weak ability but he often sees himself as an excellent student. After several years, Mŭ asked the teacher for permission to return his home country, thinking he had learnt all of his teachings.

Seeing that, Tzŭ-kung(Tử Cống, 子貢)asked his teacher:

– Will it be fine if he is promoted as a mandarin in his country?

– Yes, it will be fine, Confucius answered.

– What about a military general? Continued Tzŭ-kung

– Yes, Confuciusanswered whilesmoothing his beard

– What if he acts as an aggressor?

– Nothing harm, Confucius answered, yawning

Then Tzŭ-kungfelt assured to tell Confucius:

– I’ve heard that Mŭ came back home just to open a school and act as a teacher!

Confucius jolted up from his seat right after hearing that, rushing out of the house without putting on sneakers and adjusting his outfit.

Tzŭ-kungran after him, asking:

– Where do you go?

Confucius replied while running:

– Go to Ténggúoright now

– What for?

Confucius kept running: “To prevent this Mŭ to be a teacher. His just could harm a village if he is a mandarin; harm a town if he is a general; or even cannot harm anyone if he is an aggressor. But if he is a teacher, he will harm generations to generations. Even it’s hard for me to avoid involvement!”

From this story, I come to think that many generations of the youth will have their life harmed if they learn from a fool teacher. Likewise, a fool who acts as a spiritual teacher (i.e evil/fake monks), particularly in Buddhism, will destroy the sentient beings’ life in many kalpas. That’s the reason why Master Gampopa warns: “To attempt to explain to others doctrines which one hath not completely mastered oneself is to be like a blind man leading the blind; and this is a grievous failure!”

Dear Guru!

I thank you for giving us a beneficial sermon.

Let me praise your virtue and boundless Bodhicitta for lighting up the flame of Righ View, unceasingly breaking up evil/wrong views to pull the sentient beings out of the net of delusion.

May Guru and your consort have health, rest in equanimity and live long for the sake of all sentient beings.

May all sentient beings awake at the state of Enlightenment.

Buddha said “don’t believe anything because of who said it even me until you think it through, and it is true for you if you can’t think it through, until it is true for you” This huge focus on who is teaching, instead of what is being taught, suggests there are only fools for teachers, and students.m

I can’t finish this comment without appreciating my spiritual friend violent tran she is wonderful guidance in buddahism. May my Guru live long for the seek of happiness of all sentient being.

    Dear Mat Tinh Giac,

Thank you so much for sharing this article.

Preventing the fool to be a teacher is a must to protect all beings from dangerous things. The fool being a teacher will harm many people and make the society fall in the bad conditions. In Buddhism,  the fool becoming a teacher is much more dangerous. He creates the wrong view seeds which leads many people to the low realms. I hope this article is a reminder for those who have a wish to become a teacher and for those who want to follow a teacher on the path of enlightenment. Don’t follow a wrong teacher because it is like the blind led by a blind man, the consequence is a grievous failure as a warning of Master Gampopa.

May all sentient beings awake at the state of enlightenment.

    Om Mani Padme Hum.

Dear Holy Guru I believe as Buddha said about being sure of what you are taught or read that it is correct and satisfies my higher self. it is what is being taught not necessarily who the teacher is. Namaste <3

Dear Guru thanks for sharing this article.

We should be careful while selecting teacher’s or Guru’s, if wrong person’s are given such responsible positions it could create disasters.

Hope good beings get good positions which are worth to them.

May Guru and his consort live long for sake of other beings and have good health.

May all beings be free from suffering and get enlightened.

    Om Mani Padme Hum..

  6. tantra mahavita says:

Dear Guru: Thank you very much for sharing this interesting article … Buddha said don’t believe anything for whoever said it, even me, until you analyze it and it’s true for you if you can’t think about it until it’s true for you — So so much to avoid that a fool is a teacher is fundamental and essential, since he creates the seeds of the wrong vision. That the Guru lives a happy life for the benefit of all sentient beings … That all beings find the Nature of Buddha. ..OM MANI PADME HUM
